The hours are slowly counting down, and as both teams return to practice on Thursday, we’re now just a few days from a massive Week 9 showdown on Fox between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.
Sunday will be the first time that Jalen Hurts and Dak Prescott square off in a meaningful regular season contest, and both players will enter Sunday fresh off dazzling Week 8 performances.
Prescott was 25-31 passing for 304 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
For Philadelphia, Jalen Hurts is the reigning NFC Offensive Player of the Week after completing 29 of his 38 passes, throwing for 319 yards and four touchdowns. His 135.7 passer rating was a season-high, and the four passing touchdowns tied a career-high.
With both teams locked in and focused, we’re looking at who the experts are picking.
NFL.com--Eagles
NFL.com is picking the Eagles across the board.
In Week 8, Dallas looked unbeatable against the Rams, while the Eagles didn’t take their first lead over the Commanders until the fourth quarter — when they secured their fourth one-possession win (in five such games) this season. The Cowboys have not been stress-tested in 2023 like Jalen Hurts and Co. I have more faith in Philly’s ability to withstand a rough-and-tumble divisional matchup, especially at home, than I do in Dallas to win ugly.
ESPN--Eagles
Seven of the ten writers at ESPN are picking Philadlphia.
CBS Sports --Cowboys
Pete Prisco is rolling with Dallas.
This is an enormous early-season game in the NFC East. The Eagles have the best record in the NFL, but they still haven’t looked great. The Cowboys have righted things the past two games, especially on offense. I think that shows up as the Cowboys pull off the upset with Dak Prescott having a big game.
Bleacher Report--Eagles
The guys at Bleacher Report are picking Philadelphia.
Pro Football Talk--Eagles
Mike Florio and Pro Football Talk are picking the Eagles.
The Cowboys are a different team when you put them on grass.
USA Today--Eagles
Six of the eight experts at USA Today are picking the Eagles.
33rd Team--Eagles
The 33rd Team is picking Philadelphia.
This is yet another marquee matchup between two of the best rosters in the sport. Last year, these division rivals split, but the Dallas Cowboys got their win while Jalen Hurts was sidelined. Both teams’ offensive lines can mitigate their opponents’ premium defensive front.
Both quarterbacks are capable of MVP-caliber production. The Philadelphia Eagles have a slightly better skill group and secondary, which gives them a small nod from a talent perspective.
