NFL Week 6 picks: Who the ‘experts’ are taking in Eagles vs. Jets

While teams like Baltimore and Tennessee took their talents across the sea for a matchup in London, Philadelphia will take a short, 2+ hour bus ride up the New Jersey Turnpike for a late Sunday afternoon matchup against the Jets.

The Eagles are 12-0 in the all-time series vs. the Jets, and that dozen wins are currently the most wins without a loss by any NFL franchise in a head-to-head series.

With both teams participating in a final walkthrough on Saturday, here’s who the NFL experts and pundits are picking.

All but one writer at Bleacher Report is picking Philadelphia.

“I wouldn’t expect Breece Hall to rip off 177 yards and a touchdown like he did last week against Denver’s excuse for a defense, and life should be difficult for Zach Wilson against an Eagles team that likes to get after the QB.

“While Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense haven’t seemed to hit their stride just yet, and the Jets defense won’t make things easy, Philadelphia simply has too many playmakers at its disposal. And even if the pass game fails, New York has struggled against the run all season.

Chris Simms is picking Philadelphia, while Mike Florio is picking the upset.

It’s an upset special, for me. The Eagles have not been dominant, and they could be peeking ahead to next week’s showdown against the Dolphins. The Jets have a chance to enter the bye on a major high.

All five experts at NFL.com are picking Philadelphia.

Why Brooke is taking the Eagles: This would have been a phenomenal quarterback matchup, but Jalen Hurts vs. Zach Wilson just doesn’t have the same ring to it. The Eagles are still far from perfect in certain areas (SEE: 25th-ranked pass defense), but look for their dependable and unstoppable rushing attack to take full advantage of a poor Jets run defense, controlling the clock in the process. I don’t expect this one to be close due to the disparity at quarterback, but there are two intriguing matchups to keep an eye on: A.J. Brown vs. Sauce Gardner and Breece Hall vs. Jalen Carter.

One of the week’s most intriguing matchups is the Jets’ secondary vs. Philadelphia’s aerial attack. New York held Buffalo and Kansas City’s passing games in check, recording more interceptions than passing touchdowns allowed against both Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes. But Philly’s group of pass catchers is among the best in the league, especially with how A.J. Brown has been playing lately, and Jalen Hurts appears to have found a groove with back-to-back 300-yard games. Jets cornerback D.J. Reed missed New York’s game last week with a concussion, and his status is unclear for Sunday.
