The Los Angeles Rams began the season at No. 2 in Touchdown Wire’s power rankings. After losing to the top-ranked Buffalo Bills in the opener, the Rams dropped one spot.
They secured their first win of the season on Sunday by beating the Atlanta Falcons, but they still can’t manage to move up in the poll. Touchdown Wire has the Rams ranked fourth in this week’s power rankings, down one spot from where they were a week ago.
They were leapfrogged by the Buccaneers, who went from No. 4 to 3 after beating the Saints –an opponent perceived to be better than the Falcons.
Teams can only play who they are scheduled, and it wasn’t the Rams’ fault they were slated to play the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. They got the win. However, their past failings impact their placement on the power rankings. Los Angeles is still a top-5 team and a favorite in the NFC.
All the Rams care about is that they’re 1-1 and back on track after getting steamrolled by the Bills in the opener. Granted, they almost blew a 25-point lead to the Falcons, but like Sean McVay said after the game, “a win is a win is a win.”
They’ll take victories any way they can get them.
The Bills remain the No. 1 team in this week’s power rankings, followed by the Chiefs, Bucs, Rams and Eagles, who jumped into the top five after beating the Vikings on Monday night. The Rams are the only NFC West team in the top 10, but the 49ers are close at No. 11, moving up four spots. The Cardinals jumped from No. 22 to 14, and the Seahawks dropped three spots to No. 30.
