Week 2 proved that even laying double digits with the Buffalo Bills probably isn’t enough to level the playing field against other AFC contenders. Buffalo closed at -10 at home against the Tennessee Titans and promptly walloped Mike Vrabel’s club, 41-7.
Competitive this game was not.
So should bettors expect more of the same from the Bills in Week 3? Buffalo will head on the road for an AFC East matchup with a Miami Dolphins team that stunned the Baltimore Ravens thanks to absurd performances from Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill, winning 42-38. The Bills will arrive in South Florida as -5.5 favorites, which will be hard to stay away from after what they’ve shown the last two weeks.
Here’s a look at where oddsmakers are setting the lines as the NFL prepares for Week 3 along with some spreads that already stand out.
Indianapolis Colts (+6.5) vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City once again looks like it’s bound to play for an AFC Championship. The Colts look like they’re bound for the AFC South cellar. Not only has Indianapolis started the year 0-1-1, it was completely shutout in a 24-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Add in the fact that KC has a few extra days rest after playing last Thursday night and you start to wonder how much longer until the line moves them beyond a touchdown favorite.
Washington Commanders (+4) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
No NFC team should feel more confident than the Philadelphia Eagles heading into Week 3 after a Monday Night feasting on the Minnesota Vikings. Jalen Hurts and the offense have everything moving in the right direction—to say nothing about the defense’s ability to force turnovers.
Now they’ll face old friend Carson Wentz and Washington and, uh, there will probably be plenty more turnovers.
Cleveland Browns (-5) vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Browns are coming off one of the worst defeats in NFL history after blowing a 13-point lead with less than two minutes remaining.
Mike Tomlin is coming off a rare loss as an underdog that moved his record 48-27-3 ATS when oddsmakers favor his opponent.
