NFL star returns to training just five weeks after being shot in attempted carjacking

NFL star Brian Robinson has returned to training just five weeks after being shot in an attempted carjacking. Robinson was hospitalised on August 28 following the shooting that saw two suspects attempt to steal his car outside of a restaurant.

The Washington Commanders rookie then underwent surgery for bullet wounds on his gluteal and leg. Just five weeks on though, Robinson has made a miraculous recovery and was back out on the training field on Wednesday.

The running back has documented his recovery period on Instagram, but the 23-year-old's rapid return has left many in the NFL world shocked.

Following his his Wednesday session Robinson was full of confidence, revealing that he is 'expecting to dominate' when he makes his NFL debut. He told reporters: "I did a little bit more than I thought I would be able to do today, so that's positive.

"I expect to dominate as soon as I come back on the field. I don't really want to get too much into what's in the past. I just plan on moving forward and looking for what's ahead of us and try to help this team make some progress."

Robinson's teammates also had plenty of praise for the 23-year-old upon his return, with Commanders star Jonathan Williams labelling him 'half wolverine'. He commented: "He's half-Wolverine or something, I don't know.

"I didn't know the timetable for [the injury]. I'm not a doctor, but nothing really surprises me about him." The Commanders return to action this weekend when they take on the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Despite the shooting being just five weeks ago, and his training return coming only this week, Robinson could well in contention to make his NFL debut in the clash. "If he continues to progress, there’s a very good chance," confirmed his coach Ron Rivera.

"That’s always a good indicator when a guy gets his first real workout is how he’s reacting the next day. And if he practices again like he did today, then we’ll see if there’s any drop off.”
