JJ Watt has a reputation for being one of the nicer, more generous athletes in the world - and he's lived up to that once again in offering to pay one punter who lost out on his winnings after an incorrect call by NFL officials.
During the Arizona Cardinals' win over their division rival Los Angeles Rams, quarterback John Woolford was strip-sacked by rookie Myjai Sanders who was able to knock the ball out of quarterback John Woolford's hands as he attempted to throw the ball.
Legendary pass-rusher Watt was quickest to react to the ball on the ground, and scooped it up before believing he was about to score a touchdown. However, the referee's bizarrely called the play dead, adjudging Woolford's arm to be going forward, making it an incomplete pass.
After reviewing the play, the referees reversed the call and did rule it as a fumble, however, did not give Watt the touchdown, after blowing the play dead before he got to the end zone.
This play would have netted one punter $1000 (£850), after he bet the Arizona defence to score a touchdown in the game, as long the Cardinals to win and James Conner to score a touchdown - the latter two coming to pass.
The man had shown his bet on Twitter, tagging JJ Watt, who replied stating: "Yeah you got screwed, (we both did) I got you. DM me your address."
It was a must-win games between the two NFC West sides last nights, both without their starting quarterbacks as Kyler Murray and Matt Stafford both missed out with injury.
Both teams have started the season poorly, with the Rams having a severe Super Bowl hangover, having been favourites to make the playoffs once again, but now falling to a 3-6 record with their first-round draft pick in this upcoming class.
The Cardinals are now up to 4-6, but remain two games behind the Seattle Seahawks atop of their division, who also have the tiebreaker against them after beating them twice this season. What's more, Arizona lost one of their best pass catchers in the win yesterday, with Zach Ertz suffering with a season-ending injury.
Arizona faces another division rival next week, the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, whilst the Rams will face the New Orleans Saints, before coming up against the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks in back-to-back weeks.
