The 32 teams across the NFL, including the Miami Dolphins, had been preparing for the 2024 season without an official salary cap since the 2023 postseason ended.
Over the Cap had projected that the salary cap would be $242 million in 2024, meaning Miami would be roughly $52 million over the cap with just weeks until the start of the new league year.
On Friday, the NFL announced that the salary cap for the 2024 season will officially be $255.4 million. That means the Dolphins will be about $38 million over.
Miami, along with the other 31 franchises, will have to make cuts or maneuvers to become cap-compliant by the time the 2024 league year officially starts on March 13.
Dolphins general manager Chris Grier and salary cap guru Brandon Shore just had their lives made a bit easier. With just a few moves, the team can actually have money to spend when or before the market even opens, whether that be on their own players or another team’s free agents.
