Three standout NFL players have been named as finalists for the prestigious 14th annual Salute to Service award presented by USAA. The finalists include Vikings running back Aaron Jones, 49ers tight end George Kittle, and Chargers defensive end Morgan Fox.
The Salute to Service award is a significant part of the NFL and USAA's ongoing commitment to recognizing and honoring the military and veteran community. Each of the NFL's 32 teams nominated a candidate who demonstrated exceptional support for the military community, including active and retired players, coaches, and team executives.
The finalists were announced in November after a thorough selection process that involved a consensus fan vote, an NFL internal committee, and USAA. The winner of the Salute to Service award will be revealed at the prestigious NFL Honors event on Feb. 6.
Major General (Ret.) John Richardson, USAA's senior vice president and head of military affairs, commended the finalists for their dedication to honoring the military community. He praised Aaron Jones, George Kittle, and Morgan Fox for their continuous efforts to use their platforms as NFL players to support and uplift military service members and their families.
In recognition of the award recipient's outstanding contributions, USAA will donate $25,000 in their honor to the official aid societies representing each of the military branches. Additionally, the NFL Foundation will match this donation, ensuring that a total of $50,000 will be directed to the recipient's chosen military charity.
The Salute to Service award highlights the importance of giving back to those who serve our country selflessly. The finalists exemplify the values of service, dedication, and gratitude towards the military community, making them deserving candidates for this prestigious honor.
