The NFL’s free agency negotiating window, known as the “legal tampering” period, will open on Monday morning.
Beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT on March 13, “clubs are permitted to contact, and enter into contract negotiations with” pending free agents from other teams, according to NFL Football Operations.
Teams can — and will — reach agreements with pending free agents on Monday and Tuesday, but no contracts can be officially signed until the NFL’s new league year begins at 2:00 p.m. MT on Wednesday, March 15.
The Denver Broncos have 17 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents this week. All of them, including defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones, will be eligible to negotiate with other teams beginning Monday.
In addition to courting players from other teams, the Broncos will likely make it a priority to re-sign several of their own in-house free agents. The team has about $33 million in salary cap space going into free agency.
We will be tracking Denver’s free agency moves on Broncos Wire.
