NFL return still on Adrian Peterson’s radar, along with career in boxing

Adrian Peterson isn’t ready to close the book on a possible 2022 NFL journey, despite his upcoming boxing match with fellow NFL running back Le’Veon Bell.

When it comes to playing football, out of sight doesn’t necessarily mean out of mind for the legendary former Minnesota Vikings tailback.

Peterson admits he’s interested in pursuing boxing beyond just his fight with Bell on July 30. But after his business in the ring is finished, if an NFL team comes calling for his services, he’d be willing to trade the gloves back in for a pair of cleats.

For the 37-year-old former NFL leading rusher, it’s all about the next opportunity, regardless of it being in boxing or football.

“This is something that I definitely can see myself doing going forward as well, just depending on how things kind of play out for me,” Peterson said at a promotional event, via NFL.com. “But since I’ve started, this is something that I’ll continue to do. …Even after this fight, I will still be on my same routine, waiting for that next opportunity to present itself.”

The exhibition boxing match between the NFL running backs is slated for the undercard of the “Social Gloves 2” event, which is being held at the Crypto.com Arena in Las Vegas.

Power and athleticism doesn’t always translate to the sweet science, but in less than a month, we’ll find out just how real Peterson and Bell’s boxing aspirations truly are.
