Well, it seems that we got a little ahead of ourselves when we put the Detroit Lions (8-3) as the No. 1 team in our NFL power rankings last week.
Right after jumping to the top of these weekly power rankings, the Lions were promptly defeated by the Green Bay Packers (5-6) on Thanksgiving Day. Overall, the Packers don’t seem to be a better team than the Lions, but it’s probably fair to say we made a mistake ranking Detroit at No. 1 in Week 11.
So, who’s back on top this week?
The Philadelphia Eagles (10-1) jump back to the No. 1 spot after defeating the Buffalo Bills (6-6) on Sunday. Elsewhere in the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys (8-3) made a statement on Thanksgiving with a 45-10 win over the Washington Commanders (4-8).
In the AFC East, the Miami Dolphins (8-3) remain out in front following a 34-13 win over the New York Jets (4-7) on Black Friday. The Jacksonville Jaguars (8-3) and Houston Texans (6-5) faced off in an AFC South showdown on Sunday and the Jags prevailed 24-21. In the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs (8-3) remain in front, but the Denver Broncos (6-5) have won their last five games.
Meanwhile, in the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints (5-6) and Atlanta Falcons (5-6) also had a big division showdown in Week 12 and Atlanta won 24-15. Elsewhere, the San Francisco 49ers (8-3) remain the favorites to win the NFC West after defeating the Seattle Seahawks (6-5) on Thanksgiving.
