NFL owners have approved a significant change to Thursday Night Football scheduling on Monday.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, flex-scheduling to Thursday Night Football games was approved by a vote of 24-to-8.

The change allows the NFL to flex two late-season games to Thursday night. Only games between weeks 13 and 17 can be changed, and the league must give a 28-day notice.
The change marks a shift in primetime scheduling, as the league now has flex scheduling on all primetime games. Previously, the NFL could only flex Sunday Night and Monday Night Football games.
It’s important to note that a team can only be flexed onto Thursday once per season and is restricted to just two Thursday night games.

The Minnesota Vikings are scheduled to play the Philadephia Eagles on Thursday night in week 2, meaning one of the Vikings games later in the season could be flexed to Thursday night.
The Vikings are scheduled to play the Las Vegas Raiders, Cincinnati Bengals, Green Bay Packers, and Detroit Lions between weeks 13 and 17.
