The NFL has moved the Buffalo Bills' upcoming home game against the Cleveland Browns to a new location due a snowstorm, which could give the Bills a surprise advantage in the coming weeks.
The Bills will now play their home game against the Browns in Detroit, at Ford Field, the home of the Detroit Lions, with around a whopping three feet of snow forecast in up state New York this weekend.
It will be just the second time ever that a game has been moved because of the snow, with Buffalo also being the team to do so in 2014, when they played their home game against the New York Jets in Detroit with heavy snow forecast.
It could be a huge boost for Buffalo though, who will now play two games in five days at the same stadium in Detroit. The Bills are set to face the Lions on Thanksgiving, and will get the opportunity to get used to their surroundings with a game at Ford Field against the Browns this Sunday.
It will be a must-win game for the Bills if they are to keep pace with the red-hot AFC North, with the Jets and Miami Dolphins now ahead of them in their division.
Quarterback Josh Allen had been an MVP candidate through the first two months of the season, but has mightily struggled in recent weeks and will benefit from playing inside a dome in Detroit, rather than heavy snow in the outdoor stadium in Buffalo.
Bills fans will now have to make the four-hour drive from Buffalo to Detroit through Canada, or five-and-a-half hours if driving through the American route - through Pennsylvania and Ohio before reaching Michigan.
A statement released by the Bills said: "Due to public safety concerns and out of an abundance of caution in light of the ongoing weather emergency in western New York, Sunday's Cleveland Browns-Buffalo Bills game will be moved to Ford Field in Detroit at 1 p.m. ET, the NFL announced today.
"The decision to move the game from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY was done in consultation with the Buffalo Bills and local and state authorities as the region prepares for the storm."
It's an irregular occurrence to see the NFL decide to move a game due to snow, with Buffalo playing multiple games in inclement weather.
