The Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings have both not made the Super Bowl for a combined 75 years, with both historic franchises falling at the final hurdle in the NFC playoffs on multiple occasions. But with both teams flying high this season, there's a chance that one of them makes it to the big dance, should they get through the first-round this weekend.
The Minnesota Vikings will face the New York Giants on Sunday evening, who have surprised everyone to make it to the post-season, whilst the Cowboys will travel to south-west Florida to face Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night in the final game of the first round.
Should both teams come through the weekend, they'll be in the final four in the NFC and will avoid each other with the Cowboys to face Philadelphia Eagles with the Vikings playing the San Francisco 49ers, a step away from the Super Bowl.
And both teams quarterbacks will reap huge rewards if they make it to the big game, both financially and to their legacy.
ESPN's senior NFL insider, Adam Schefter, tweeted: "There’s plenty on the line this postseason for Vikings’ QB Kirk Cousins and Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott, but they have additional incentive as well. Cousins and Prescott each have $1million incentives in their contracts if either is able to help his team secure a Super Bowl win."
Whilst the additional money would be huge, it's probably not as important to Prescott or Cousins, who will both make way over $200m on their current career trajectory after signing huge extensions in recent years.
But both men are roundly questioned for their inability to win in big moments, with Cousins being criticised throughout his career for his struggles in prime team outings.
Prescott meanwhile continues to be inconsistent for 'America's Team', showing that he's able to lead the Cowboys explosive offense but routinely makes mistakes in key situations which have hurt the team throughout the last few years.
The Cowboys arguably have one of the more well rounded rosters in the NFL, with a ferocious defence leading the team, as they just need Prescott to limit mistakes whilst getting the ball to their playmakers in CeeDee Lamb, Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard.
The Cowboys and Vikings are longshots to win the Super Bowl according to bookmakers, with the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers all clear favourites above them to win the championship.
