NFL legend Tom Brady sends message to Cristiano Ronaldo on record-breaking night for Manchester United star

NFL legend Tom Brady had a message for Cristiano Ronaldo on what turned out to be a record-breaking night for the Manchester United star.

Brady was in attendance at Old Trafford to see the Reds’ crucial game against Tottenham in the race for fourth in the Premier League. The former New England Patriots quarter-back was certainly treated to plenty of action, with Ronaldo at the heart of the action.

The Portuguese superstar opened the scoring in spectacular fashion, thundering the ball home from 25 yards early on in the first half. Harry Kane brought Spurs back on level terms from the penalty spot, but Ronaldo soon had United back in front.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner latched onto Jadon Sancho’s cross to send the Reds into the break with a 2-1 lead. They were pegged back again though in the second half when Harry Maguire turned into his own net to bring the visitors level.

But Ronaldo wasn’t to be denied as he completed his hat-trick with a thumping header to earn United a crucial victory. And Brady will no doubt have been pleased.

It wasn’t just Ronaldo that the seven-time Super Bowl champion had made the trip over the Atlantic to watch. Brady has also previously met Kane, with the Spurs striker counting the 44-year-old as one of his sporting idols.

But Brady was firmly on Ronaldo’s side ahead of kick-off. Tweeting from his from his seat at Old Trafford, he said: "Here we go! @Cristiano vs. @HKane. I might fist pump if you score Harry but I’m riding with @ManUtd today."

United’s victory will not only have left Brady pleased, but it will give Ralf Rangnick’s side a major boost in their quest to finish fourth. They move back ahead of Arsenal for now, with the Gunners facing Leicester on Sunday.
