Former New England Patriots legendary wide receiver Randy Moss is stepping away from his role on “Sunday NFL Countdown” to focus on his recent health issue.
Last week, the Hall of Famer revealed he was “battling something internally” and asked for prayers. On Friday, a statement was put out by ESPN that Moss would be stepping away from the show for an “extended time.”
“Pro Football Hall of Famer Randy Moss will step away from Sunday NFL Countdown for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge,” the statement read. “He briefly addressed the matter at the start of the show on Dec. 1.
“For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating Countdown with his insight and passion. He has ESPN’s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”
Not only was Moss arguably the greatest receiver in NFL history, but he has been an incredible NFL analyst as well. His voice and commentary will be sorely missed while he’s gone.
Here’s hoping he makes a full recovery and gets back to doing what he loves to do.
