NFL insider on why Jaguars are best fit for Ben Johnson

NFL insider Josina Anderson shared where she believes the best destination is for top head coaching candidate Ben Johnson. Her choice? The Jacksonville Jaguars.

Anderson’s belief behind this is rooted in opinion versus any sort of inside information she is hearing. But here is what he had to say about her reasoning:

“Johnson strikes me as a low-key man who doesn’t seek attention, nor prefers a media circus,” Anderson wrote. “Jacksonville’s smaller market environment is more conducive to assimilating from coordinator to head coach duties, and its farther from the glare of the national lens.”

Anderson notes that there are “many variables” in play when it comes to Johnson choosing where he wants to coach.

Some of which include the division he’d be up against, the choice of ownership, and the quarterback situation.

With Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars are in good standing in that category, and while the Houston Texans need to be dethroned, the AFC South isn’t the AFC West or NFC North by any means.

When it comes to ownership, the potential bigger hurdle for the Jaguars could come at general manager, with Trent Baalke still at the helm. Although, a recent report suggested that owner Shad Khan could have some “flexibility” when it comes to Baalke’s future if the right head coaching candidate were available.

While Anderson likes Johnson’s fit with the Jaguars, there is “momentum building” between him and the Las Vegas Raiders says one recent report.

Under Johnson, the Detroit Lions offense has been a juggernaut, and not only impressive are the points and yards that they put up, but also the creativity of Johnson’s week-to-week game plans and his ability to maximize his player’s strengths.
