NFL insider offers insight into Bill Belichick’s plan to coach again

Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick still intends on coaching again in 2025, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

The 2024 season will be the first season Belichick will not be on an NFL sideline in any capacity in nearly 50 years. Instead, he will be taking his talents to the television screen and appearing on “Inside the NFL” this fall.

It appears as if Belichick still has the itch to coach again. The six-time Super Bowl-winning coach has tallied 333 total wins in his career, and he’s looking to add to that number with another team next year.

Pelissero opened up on Belichick’s plans while serving as a guest host on “The Rich Eisen Show.”

“Bill Belichick intends to coach in 2025,” said Pelissero. “He’s staying engaged in the game. He’s showing up to roasts. He’s now going to be on ‘Inside the NFL.’ We’ve seen him showing up to different events in high school, at the Manning Passing Academy.

“We saw him at the University of Washington where his son Steve [Belichick] is now the defensive coordinator. He’ll be trying to better himself. He’ll be trying to remind you that he’s not Darth Vader, that there’s more to Bill Belichick. He’s done a good job of that so far with his media stuff.”

It would be very odd to see Belichick on the sidelines for a different team. Over the years, his presence has become synonymous with the Patriots organization.

His desire to continue coaching isn’t surprising considering he’s only 14 wins behind Don Shula for the all-time wins record for an NFL coach. It’s clear that coaching still matters to him, even as he dabbles in other interests.
