In an effort to expand the NFL’s reach in Germany, the NFL will play a game at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium in 2025. This is a multi-year commitment to playing games in the German capital.
“Germany has a rich tradition of American football, and the NFL has a deep history with the city of Berlin,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a statement. “We first held a preseason game at the Olympic Stadium 34 years ago, before it was home to NFL Europe’s Berlin Thunder in the early 2000s. Now, with almost 20 million NFL fans in Germany, we’ll make a historic return to the city playing a regular-season game for the first time as we open the next chapter in our relationship with Berlin.”
Since 2022, the NFL has played regular season games in Munich and Frankfurt. 2025’s Berline game marks the fifth regular-season contest played in Germany.
As part of the agreement, the NFL will work with the Berlin Senate to develop a flag football program in the city’s schools and clubs.

Starting next year, the NFL can schedule up to eight international regular-season games per season.
In 2024, the NFL played one game in Brazil, one game in Germany, and three games in London.
In 2025, there will be two regular-season games in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and one in Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. More games will be announced in the coming weeks.
