NFL Free Agency: Is WR Adam Thielen a fit for Seattle?

This is a part of football no one likes. Every year, talented and/or beloved players are unfortunately forced to be let go due to salary cap issues, injuries, age or a combination. Such is the case with wide receiver Adam Thielen, who was released by the Minnesota Vikings on Friday.

Thielen’s decade in Minneapolis was quite the run, as he is third in Vikings team history for receptions and receiving touchdowns, while also being fourth in receiving yards. Thielen has been one of the more consistent receivers in the NFL, but his yardage totals dipped in 2021 and 2022. Still, he scored 16 total touchdowns in the last two years.

As he looks for his new NFL home, should the Seattle Seahawks reach out? The Seahawks are in need of a legitimate third receiving option behind DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

A receiving corps of Metcalf, Lockett and Thielen would be difficult to defend against. Thielen may be getting older, but Seattle would not need him to be the primary target. Filling in behind Metcalf and Lockett would give quarterback Geno Smith a nice target to work with.
