The Jets have signed veteran wide receiver Allen Lazard to a four-year, $44 million contract. The move appears to coincide with the Jets pursuit of Aaron Rodgers, Lazard’s teammate in Green Bay, though a trade has still not been announced.

Lazard is coming off a 2022 season that saw him finish as the WR34, posting 60 receptions for 788 yards and six touchdowns. He also averaged a career-high 52.5 yards and 11.7 fantasy points a game, and he missed two contests due to injuries.
The veteran, who will be 28 years old, can be a good complementary receiver but he’s not an alpha at the position. Even entering last season as the top option in the Packers' passing game for Rodgers, Lazard was hard to trust as a fantasy option. Eventually, he was overshadowed by rookie Christian Watson in the second half.

Now in New York, he’ll be no more than second or third option in the passing game behind Garrett Wilson and maybe Elijah Moore. However, there’s talk Rodgers is pushing for the Jets to sign Odell Beckham Jr. and Randall Cobb.

Lazard likely won’t be worth more than a late-round pick in most fantasy drafts as a WR4 or WR5, which all depends on what else the Jets do this offseason. Also, Lazard’s presence could push Moore or Corey Davis to be traded or released.
In Green Bay, Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs will take over as the top wide receivers in Lazard’s absence, assumingly for new starting QB Jordan Love.
