We have some SERIOUS drama cooking in the NFL now that Lamar Jackson has revealed his trade request from the Baltimore Ravens.
And the New York Jets could be at the center of it if they play the negotiation game correctly.
Ever since Aaron Rodgers revealed that he’d like to be a Jet all the way, we’ve heard … nothing when it’s come to a trade between the Green Bay Packers and Gang Green, probably because the leverage is really complicated. Neither side has it!
But now, everything’s changed. If the Jets really want Rodgers, they can tell the Packers, “You have until Wednesday or we’re making a play for Jackson.”
Or, you know, they could actually trade for Jackson instead!
Here’s a sampling of that line of thinking from NFL fans:
If you’re the Jets it’s absurd to band aid your franchise with a 40 year old for 2 years max rather than Lamar until 2030 and beyond. https://t.co/XTRkBFqaiF

It’s not gonna happen, but it would be hilarious to me if the Jets just did this and pivoted to Lamar pic.twitter.com/CsJuhqp2wq

The Jets already had leverage, but Lamar just gave the Jets even more leverage. How people don’t see this is insane to me. https://t.co/K0iD0JMU0D

What if this entire time the Jets were using the Packers for Lamar leverage. 🤯

If the Jets did a 180 and sold the farm for Lamar instead of Aaron, it would put the Packers in SUCH an uncomfortable position.
Not gonna happen, but I want to see it so very badly.

The New York Jets officially have more leverage than the Packers when negotiating a trade for Aaron Rodgers
However, Lamar is my first choice so 🤷🏻♂️ https://t.co/b7Icjw5yzN
