Lions quarterback Teddy Bridgewater made the unorthodox decision to wear the No. 50 as a quarterback, taking advantage of the NFL’s looser number rules. The veteran chose a higher number while most quarterbacks are sticking with a number between 1 and 19.
Bridgewater had worn the No. 5 throughout his entire career regardless of team, but Detroit running back David Montgomery currently has that number for the Lions. Therefore, Bridgewater just added a zero.
Despite the league allowing a greater variety of numbers for positions, fans still have not gotten on board. As Bridgewater debuted his new No. 50 during Detroit’s preseason game vs. the Jaguars, fans reacted to seeing the veteran’s new number for the first time.
I love this. Hilarious bit. 10/10 no notes https://t.co/pBzo1bVyBs

Bridgewater is currently battling with Nate Sudfeld to be Jared Goff’s backup in Detroit, but the veteran’s experience may give him the upper hand in the competition. Therefore, it is very possible Bridgewater takes his No. 50 into the season during a regular season game.
