NFL Fans, Pundits Rejoice After League Owners Approved Sale of Commanders

The end of Dan Snyder’s time as an NFL owner sparked celebrations from fans and pundits alike on Thursday following the approval of the sale of the Commanders to the Josh Harris group for $6.05 billion.

Snyder’s 24-year tenure was cloaked in controversy over the last several years stemming from an investigation into the organization over allegations of workplace misconduct. The findings of the investigation, led by former U.S. attorney Mary Jo White, were also released Thursday, along with the news of Snyder receiving a $60 million fine as a penalty.

In addition to the off-field issues, Washington struggled on the field under Snyder, with the club logging a combined 164–220–2 record and just two playoff wins in six appearances.

With Snyder officially on his way out, many, including former Washington quarterback and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III, were quick to react to the Commanders finally moving on from an era marred by dysfunction and scandal. And, needless to say, none of those who weighed in held back on acknowledging the overwhelming sense of optimism and relief ignited by Snyder’s departure:
