Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs lost to the Eagles on Monday night, 21–17, but they came so close to winning the game in the final minutes when it looked like the two-time MVP hit a receiver in stride for what would have been a long touchdown pass.
Instead, Marquez Valdes-Scantling had the ball go through his hands and fall to the ground. It was a brutal drop that had everyone on social media in utter disbelief.

Mahomes spoke about the drop after the game, putting the blame on himself rather than on his receiver, saying he could have thrown a better pass.

Wow, Patrick Mahomes literally took blame for marquez valdes-scantling’s drop. This dude is 1 of 1 on and off the field!

That was pretty classy of the QB. Fans loved it:
For real though. So proud to have him as a chief. What a class act. https://t.co/SMCt1gFRno

Gotta give him credit he’s always been that guy. He’s not wrong but still hard to call it on him… https://t.co/mvIRBekiqu

I am not a #Mahomes or #KansasCityChiefs fan, as a matter of fact I can’t stand KC, but you have to admit, the guy is a team player. To take the blame for what was clearly his teammate’s fault…wow. That’s impressive. 😢 #eagleschiefs https://t.co/HI01ifro9j
