The NFL suspended Broncos defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, and it attracted a range of reactions on Monday as the league continues to bring the hammer down on offenders.
Uwazurike, a 2022 fourth-round pick out of Iowa State, received an indefinite suspension for “betting on games” during the ’22 season. The violation will sideline the 25-year-old for at least the ’23 season, with Uwazurike “eligible to petition for reinstatement no earlier than July 24, 2024.”
Following Uwazurike’s suspension, the NFL has now seen multiple players facing harsh penalties for betting this offseason. Given the amount of conversation surrounding the gambling policy, NFL fans and pundits had a lot to say following Monday’s news.
