Last week, the Tennessee Titans reached an agreement with Nashville mayor John Cooper to have a new indoor stadium built downtown, and the team hasn’t waited long to give fans a look at the proposed project.
The Titans and Kansas City-based architecture firm MANICA released renderings on Tuesday, showing a first glimpse at the 60,000-seat stadium that the Titans want to build with the help of $1.5 billion in state and city funds. The total project is estimated to cost $2.1 billion — about the same as the Raiders’ Allegiant Stadium — and Titans ownership is only prepared to put up to $800 million for the stadium.
Now, you’re already off to a bad start when billionaires wants public funds to build stadiums, but the design itself also left a lot to be desired.

The stadium’s interior does appear to closely resemble Allegiant Stadium, which makes sense because MANICA was also involved with that project. The indoor stadium would also allow Nashville to host more indoor events like the Super Bowl and Final Four. But where Allegiant Stadium has a unique look (a giant Roomba!), the Titans seem ready to start playing football in a huge Top Golf.
NFL fans had a mixed reaction to the renderings, and — of course — there were plenty of jokes.

I immediately thought of Music City Center when I saw the proposed @Titans stadium design. But this Top Golf comparison is probably more spot-on. https://t.co/ShOTQVBnKD
