NFL fans felt so bad for Tee Higgins for taking a cartoon-style pile-on after the whistle

When it rains in the NFL, it usually pours hard. Tee Higgins learned this important lesson during the Cincinnati Bengals’ Sunday night matchup with the rival Buffalo Bills.

With the Bengals facing a routine first down play, a simple handoff to Joe Mixon set off an unfortunate chain of events for Higgins. At first, the receiver tries to make a hard down block to create a crease for Mixon. But when Higgins put himself in the middle of the scrum, he got washed back out. After getting pancaked to the ground, Higgins took not one, not two, but three extra inadvertent hits post-whistle from Bills players and his own Bengals teammates.

Fortunately, even amidst the cartoon-style chaos, he was OK.

Woof. You just gotta feel for Higgins because I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anything like this in live-action before. Playing in an NFL game in itself is dangerous. But I guess sometimes the hits quite literally don’t stop coming.
