The NFLPA released its second annual All-Pro Team on Wednesday, a list voted on by the players themselves to name the best at each position.
Like any award recognition list—whether it’s the Pro Bowl or the official All-Pro teams—it was met with plenty of scrutiny about snubs and undeserving honorees.
One selection in particular, though, gained the most attention: Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce was voted as the top tight end in the league by his peers despite having a down year by his standards.
In 15 games, Kelce logged 93 catches for 984 yards and five touchdowns. It was the first time he didn’t compile 1,000 receiving yards since 2015, his third year in the league.
Among fellow tight ends, Kelce finished second in receiving yards, third in receptions and seventh in touchdowns. That’s not poor production, but best in the league?
NFL fans had a few things to say about that:
Travis Kelce is absurd

Travis Kelce over LaPorta??

I think Travis Kelce might be the best tight end ever…. That being said his season was garbage this year and having him as tight end 1 is a joke

that "Kelce" name wears a heavy crown

one of them deserves to be on here, the other became the most popular man on earth during a stinker of a year https://t.co/Mx506UuUaq
Kelce over Kittle and Surtain over Ward is absolutely nuts https://t.co/rDk250FuIY

If I’m being honest, only Chiefs player that really deserves to be here is Sneed. https://t.co/Sa4MenvUxW
