NFL Facing Criticism for Field Quality During Super Bowl LVII

While the match-up between the Chiefs and Eagles in Super Bowl LVII has lived up to the hype, delivering an outstanding game for football fans everywhere, there is one important element that has been heavily scrutinized on Sunday that the league will have to answer for: the playing surface.

Players have been slipping and sliding all over the field, especially on some of the large Super Bowl logos that have been painted on the field.

The playing surface itself is grass that was grown locally at a sod farm in Phoenix. It was installed two weeks ago and was over $800,000, according to Joe Pompliano. Additionally, the grass has been carefully manicured and rolled out each morning for the last two weeks to daily sunshine.

Despite all the work put into preparing the field for the biggest game in American sports, the surface ended up being a disaster on Sunday night, and now the NFL is in hot water as a result.

Here are some of the best tweets reacting to the field conditions in Super Bowl LVII.
