NFL experts make Week 5 picks, predictions for Titans vs. Colts

The Tennessee Titans will be playing their first divisional game of the 2023 season on Sunday when they head to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the Indianapolis Colts.

As is the case with their two AFC South foes, the Titans and Colts enter this game with a 2-2 record, which means the winner will have at least a share of first place.

However, if the Houston Texans lose to the Atlanta Falcons in tandem with the Jacksonville Jaguars dropping their game to the Buffalo Bills, the winner of Titans-Colts will have sole possession of the top spot in the division.

The Titans are coming off an impressive win over the Cincinnati Bengals, while the Colts lost a tough one in overtime to the Los Angeles Rams after mounting a 23-point comeback.

As we do every week, let’s see who the majority of experts believe will win this game between the Titans and Colts ahead of Sunday’s action.

Pete Prisco: Titans 24, Colts 20 – “In a division where everybody has the same 2-2 record, this is an important early-season game. The Titans impressed in beating the Bengals last week, with the defense playing well. That will carry over here. The Titans will slow down Anthony Richardson and the Colts, while Derrick Henry has a big day. Titans take it.”

Sporting News

Sporting News’ Week 5 picks

Vinnie Iyer: Colts 23, Titans 20 – “The Colts have the much better mobile QB now with Anthony Richardson vs. fading Ryan Tannehill. They also tend to contain the run better than the pass, very similar to the Titans’ defense. The Colts have the more dangerous passing game weapons, surprisingly, and could also be inspired by the return of Jonathan Taylor, who will be motivated to outrush Derrick Henry.”

Bill Bender: Titans 22, Colts 18 – “This AFC South rivalry has tilted toward the Titans – who have won the last five meetings. Tennessee also got Derrick Henry back on track in Week 5. Henry has rushed for 100 yards or more in five of the last six matchups against the Colts, who are a small favorite for the second straight week. We will trust Tennessee one more time. “

The 33rd Team

Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The 33rd Team’s Week 5 pick

Ryan Reynolds: Titans 24, Colts 20 – “If you’re an Indianapolis Colts fan, you must feel good about Anthony Richardson and Shane Steichen as the franchise’s pillars. Jonathan Taylor could return this week, bolstering the Colts’ already dangerous running game. They’ll face one of the best run defenses in the league this week in Tennessee. The Tennessee Titans’ defensive front dominated Joe Burrow and the Bengals last week. You can beat Tennessee in the air if you can mitigate their high-end pass rush. That puts this game largely on Richardson’s right arm. Another point of interest is that Ryan Tannehill and the passing attack will draw Indianapolis’s beatable secondary. If Tennessee is going to take a real step forward, its passing game needs to improve.
