The Tennessee Titans have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. If the Titans deal the pick, it will be the 14th time the No. 1 pick has been traded before the NFL Draft since 1967.
Would The Titans Trade The No. 1 Pick In The 2025 NFL Draft?

The Titans enter the 2025 offseason with a new general manager. On Wednesday, the Titans officially introduced new GM Mike Borgonzi at a press conference.
The Titans have a huge decision to make with the No. 1 pick. Tennessee needs a franchise quarterback, as Will Levis and Mason Rudolph are not the long-term solutions.
However, the Titans, who finished 3-14 in 2024, also must build a balanced roster for second-year head coach Brian Callahan.
Would the Titans consider trading out from No. 1 to accumulate more picks? It’s not out of the question.
“Draft picks are our biggest form of currency, so when there’s opportunities to trade back to collect more picks, we’re going to do that,” Borgonzi told reporters.
Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker believes in accumulating picks and building a roster through the draft.
The Titans only have two picks in the top 40 in 2025. The goal is to have around 30 draft picks over the next three years, with 12 being top 100 selections. To achieve this, the Titans must trade back to acquire multiple picks at some point.
Despite the organization’s desire to stockpile draft picks, Brinker said the team will use the No. 1 pick on “generational talent.”
“We’re going to look at all avenues as far as that number one pick,” Brinker said. “But we won’t pass on a generational talent with the first pick in the NFL Draft.”
While Miami’s Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders’ are the top two quarterbacks in the draft, they are not considered generational prospects. That adjective belongs to Sanders’ teammate, Travis Hunter, the star wide receiver and defensive back who won the 2024 Heisman Trophy.
"We want to build a foundation of homegrown talent and reward those players that meet our standards"

If the Titans trade the No. 1 pick, it will become the 14th time the top pick has been dealt before the NFL draft since the NFL/AFL merger in 1967.
The Chicago Bears traded the No. 1 pick two drafts ago. The Bears traded the No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft for a 2023 first-round pick, a 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, and DJ Moore.
The Panthers selected quarterback Bryce Young with the first pick.
In 2016, the Titans traded the No. 1 pick to the Los Angeles Rams for six draft picks, one of whom became Derrick Henry.
In 2001, the Falcons acquired the No. 1 pick from the Los Angeles Chargers for Tim Dwight and three draft picks. That year, the Falcons drafted quarterback Michael Vick, while the Chargers selected LaDainian Tomlinson.
