NFL draft analyst Matt Miller has Brock Bowers as UGA’s only first-round grade

Georgia football is projected to be well represented in the 2024 NFL draft after sending an NFL-record 25 players through the draft over the last two years. Star tight end Brock Bowers will likely be the first Bulldog off the board in round one.

While 32 players will hear their name called on Day 1, not all of them hold round-one grades. According to ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller, Bowers is the only Bulldog to possess a first-round grade.

“Bowers is not just a tight end; he’s an offensive playmaker. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is rough and ready, and unlike so many smooth-moving tight ends of this day and age, he’ll simply run over you. Bowers is physical but fast; he’s as elusive as he is powerful. And it’s why he scored 31 touchdowns over three seasons while being used as a tight end, H-back, slot receiver and sometimes tailback. Some may say he’s undersized, but Bowers’ effort and strength as a blocker are underrated. He can be a focal point for an NFL passing game from Day 1.”

Beyond grades, Bowers won’t likely be the only Bulldog taken in the first round. Amarius Mims is considered as one of the top players at offensive tackle, which is a premier position in the NFL. Wide receiver Ladd McConkey has seen a considerable surge this offseason as analyst have taken a deeper look at his tape.

Bowers, Mims and McConkey, along with eight other Bulldogs, will preform at the NFL combine from Feb. 26-March 4. A good outing in Indianapolis will bode well for their draft stocks. The 2024 NFL draft will be held on April 25-27 in Detroit.
