What are compensatory draft picks?
In total, 32 compensatory picks are handed out to teams also based on the value of players lost and acquired during free agency. A formula is used to determine where a pick should be positioned in the draft based on factors including a player's salary, how much he has played and what he won with a new team.
The most recent NFL Mock Draft has Will Anderson, the Alabama linebacker, heading to Chicago with the number one pick while the Houston Texans are tipped to bring in Anderson's college team-mate, quarterback Bryce Young, with the second pick. Before the Draft, though, is free agency with March 15 the day teams can begin to sign free agents with player contracts expiring then and a new League season officially beginning.
Teams can trade players for Draft picks and vice versa.
