Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Todd Downing was arrested for allegedly drinking under the influence and speeding in the early hours of Friday morning after his team landing back in Tennessee after defeating the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff's Department, Downing was charged with DUI and speeding at 4:39am and was released just over two hours later after he posted bond at 6:46am local time.
This would have been just a short amount of time after the team landed in Tennessee from Green Bay, with the Titans securing a huge win in Lambeau Field.
Downing became offensive coordinator in 2021, after Arthur Smith left to become to Atlanta Falcons head coach. Downing was previously the Titans tight ends coach, and has previously been offensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders in 2017.
Downing has been apart of one of the more impressive coaching staff's of the last few years, with the Titans being expected to struggle in 2021 and this season, going 19-8 in that time, with head coach Mike Vrabel winning coach of the year last season and could well be in the running once again this year.
The Titans have now won seven of their last eight games and have moved to a comfortable position in the AFC south, three game above the Indianapolis Colts.
Downing, who calls the plays for the Titans offense, saw his team throw for 333 yards with Ryan Tannehill registering 333 yards and two touchdowns, whilst Downing called a trick play for running back Derrick Henry to throw the ball on a pop-pass, fooling the Packers defence and leaving Austin Hooper wide open for a touchdown.
Rookie Treylon Burks also impressed, having the best game of his career to date 111 yards.
The Packers on the other hand, struggled, with Aaron Rodgers continuing to re-find the form that has seen him win back-to-back consecutive MVP's, after losing superstar receiver Davante Adams, who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders.
The loss for Green Bay has seen them fall to 4-7 - four games behind the Minnesota Vikings in their division who also have two games in hand on them.
