UAB coach Trent Dilfer is preparing to travel to Athens to take on Georgia this weekend and before the matchup the former NFL quarterback gave the SEC some extremely high praise on Tuesday.
“It’s better than the Super Bowls,” Dilfer said of the SEC’s atmosphere. “An SEC football game at night is a way better atmosphere than the Super Bowl. I think it’s the second-coolest thing I’ve ever been to as a spectator.”
Dilfer said his No. 1 experience at a sporting event was watching the Kentucky Derby and went on to say that his lone experience as an SEC spectator was when he watched a night game between Alabama and Ole Miss.
UAB HC and former NFL QB Trent Dilfer can't wait to take his team to Athens for a primetime SEC environment....

It’s high praise for Dilfer, who quarterbacked the 2000 Ravens to a Super Bowl XXXV victory over the Giants. That same environment he’s praising will be a monster challenge for this 1–2 squad to handle. The Bulldogs are the reigning national champions and are currently atop the AP rankings with a 3–0 mark. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Dilfer is leading his team into the most hostile environment in sports at the moment.
Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
