Reports are coming out that the Pittsburgh Steelers are not seriously looking at any of the big-name veteran quarterbacks that have been linked to them including Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Fields has been the most common one and at this point, there are so many conflicting reports about whether Pittsburgh will try to make a trade or not, we don’t know who to believe.
The guys on Get Up on ESPN were discussing the Steelers disinterest in improving the quarterback position and NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky offered up an excellent example of why the Steelers need to make the move for Fields.
“If you are telling me the difference over the course of two years between Justin Fields and Kenny Pickett is $24 million, you go get Justin Fields,” Orlovsky said.

As we are a week from the start of free agency, it really feels like the Steelers are going to just ride with Pickett and hope they can bring back Mason Rudolph. This is quite frankly a terrifying proposition when the quarterback was the clear-cut weakest part of the team last season. Making all these other changes and improvements while leaving the most important position on the field static feels like a recipe for another middling season.
