With a few timely assists from lady luck, the Seattle Seahawks got a desperately-needed win in overtime on the road over the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Let’s see what the rest of the NFC West got up to in Week 2.
Here’s how the rest of the division did this week.
49ers beat Rams, 30-23
Sometimes a team just has your number. In Seattle’s case, they can’t beat Sean McVay’s Rams when they’re healthy. As for McVay, he just can’t compete with Kyle Shanahan’s 49ers. After taking them down 30-23 on Sunday, San Francisco has now won nine of their last 10 meetings with LA. Christian McCaffrey led the way once again, totaling 135 yards from scrimmage and another touchdown.

Deebo Samuel chipped in another 101 scrimmage yards and a score. At quarterback, Brock Purdy didn’t throw any touchdown passes, but he also managed to avoid interceptions, which is all he really has to do.

Rams lost to 49ers, 30-23
Another loss to the Niners stings, but the Rams have several reasons to feel good. At the top was another stellar performance by their new-look offensive line. They only allowed one sack on Matt Stafford against the Niners’ potent pass rush. The Rams have also found a budding star in wide receiver Puka Nacua, who posted 15 catches and 147 yards.

Unfortunately, it was one of those off games for Stafford after he was positively brilliant in Week 1 against the Seahawks. His two interceptions sank LA’s chances more than anything else.

Seahawks beat Lions, 37-31
A win is a win, but it’s tough to feel too confident given the way this one went down. Seattle got a ton of breaks from the officials, as well as luck with fumbles. On the bright side, Geno Smith was nearly perfect outside of one crushing sack in the fourth quarter he had to avoid. Even better, backup tackles Stone Forsythe and Jake Curhan did a splendid job keeping him clean in pass pro. Defensively, Bobby Wagner, Devon Witherspoon and Tre Brown all had flashy moments but the pass rush remains a disappointment. Without the blitz, they might have no pressures at all this season.

Cardinals lost to Giants, 31-28
The Cardinals managed to into halftime with a 20-0 lead over the Giants. Then they remembered who they are and got blown out 31-8 in the second half. Josh Dobbs avoided any turnovers and James Conner continues to have a strong campaign, totaling 106 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
