NFC West standings: All knotted up at 1-1 after 2 weeks

It’s been a wild two weeks in the NFC West to start the season. In Week 1, the Rams, Cardinals and 49ers all lost, while the Seahawks stunned the Broncos to open the year 1-0. The script was flipped in Week 2, however, with the Rams, Cardinals and 49ers all winning; the Seahawks lost to San Francisco this weekend.

Sunday was particularly eventful. The Rams barely held on to beat the Falcons, 31-27, after nearly blowing a 25-point lead. The Cardinals came back from 23-7 to beat the Raiders in overtime, 29-23. Although the 49ers beat the Seahawks 27-7, they also lost their starting quarterback, Trey Lance, for the year due to a broken ankle.

Enter Jimmy Garoppolo – again.

The Rams and Cardinals are back on track after earning a pair of much-needed wins in Week 2 to avoid an 0-2 start. The 49ers rebounded from a sloppy loss to the Bears in the opener, but they’re back to square one with Garoppolo at quarterback, delaying the rein-taking by Lance. And the Seahawks looked more like the team we expected them to be during their 20-point loss to San Francisco.

After two weeks, every team in the NFC West sits at 1-1 – the only division in the NFL currently with three 1-1 teams, pending the Vikings’ result on Monday night.

  • 49ers: 1-1, +11 net points
  • Rams: 1-1, -17 net points
  • Seahawks: 1-1, -19 net points
  • Cardinals: 1-1, -17 net points

The Rams are the only team in the division that hasn’t played a road game, while the Cardinals are the only ones to play both of their first games against the AFC. There’s still plenty to be decided in this division, and next Sunday’s Rams-Cardinals showdown will help show which of these teams is legit.

The Seahawks will host the Falcons in Week 3 and the 49ers will visit the Broncos next Sunday night, Garoppolo’s first start of the year.
