NFC playoff picture after Week 12 morning games

After the early games in the NFL in Week 12, there were no changes in the NFC playoff race standings, but things did tighten a little bit.

Here is what the NFC conference standings looked entering the week.

  1. Detroit Lions, 9-1
  2. Philadelphia Eagles, 8-2
  3. Arizona Cardinals, 6-4
  4. Atlanta Falcons, 6-5
  5. Minnesota Vikings, 8-2
  6. Green Bay Packers, 7-3
  7. Washington Commanders, 7-4

In the mix were three teams at 5-5 (L.A. Rams, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers) and the 4-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are in the mix for the NFC South division title.

The Detroit Lions improved to 10-1 with a 24-6 win over the Indianapolis Colts. The Buccaneers beat the New York Giants 30-7, improving the 5-6. The Minnesota Vikings won their ninth game of the year, improving to 9-2, with a 30-27 overtime win over the Chicago Bears.

The Washington Commanders lost to the Dallas Cowboys 34-26 in what was a wild finish.

With the early games, no one moved in the playoff standings, but things are getting interesting.

Tampa Bay is one game behind idle Atlanta in the NFC South. The Commanders remained in the seventh spot but lost for the third straight week.
