Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has admitted he would like to try Major League Soccer before he calls time on his illustrious playing career.
The Brazil international has had to deal with relentless rumours over his future in Paris dating back to 2019 when the former Santos man confessed he wanted out of the PSG project after feeling "better" at his old club Barcelona.
Speaking on the Fenomenos podcast, the 30-year-old revealed his desire to venture Stateside at some point.
"I'd love to play in the MLS actually," he explained. "I'd love to play there at least for a season."
The PSG superstar went on to jokingly confess part of his motivation behind any move to the USA would be partly inspired by their lengthier off-season period.
HAVE YOUR SAY! Will Neymar play in the MLS before the end of his current PSG contract? Comment below
"First of all their season is shorter, so I'd get three months vacation.
If Neymar is to venture across the Atlantic, he'll need to do it quick given his comments about a potential retirement.
"I joke with my friends that I will retire when I'm 32, but it's just a joke - I don't know.
"Honestly, I will play until I'm mentally tired. If my mental health is ok and my body is well physically, I think I'll still last a few years.
"But my mental health is the most important thing."
Neymar is not the only former Barcelona talent to recently confess a desire to see what the MLS has to offer; Luis Suarez has echoed the Brazilian's sentiments.
The Uruguayan is currently at Atletico Madrid but with his contract up come the end of the season, his club future remains up in the air.
Speaking to ESPN , via Spanish outlet AS, Suarez described playing in America as a "very good option".
"If I return to any team from South America at 36 or 37 years of age, people will expect me to play like I did in my late twenties," he explained.
"So if I can’t play at the highest level, I rather avoid unnecessary criticism if I don’t run enough or can’t score the same amount of goals as I did in Europe.
"So I want to play somewhere I am happy and comfortable. Also I want to play in a league where I can still perform and keep enjoying playing soccer.
"So I don’t think I will return to South America, but the United States or Asia are very good options when I turn 37."
Suarez' international teammate Nico Lodeiro currently plies his trade for MLS outfit Seattle Sounders and has insisted the striker will one day join him in the division.
"He wants to come to MLS," Lodeiro claimed in an interview with mlssoccer.com. "He is always asking me about the league.
"I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s out here."
