Neymar's brilliant reaction to Richarlison showboat as Tottenham star hits back at Jamie Carragher

Richarlison has received backing over his showboating against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The Brazilian has been heavily criticised for his moment of skill. When the ball rolled to him on the far touchline Richarlison chose to flick the ball up and do several kick-ups before passing the ball away. As he made the pass an angry tackle from Brennan Johnson and Neco Williams sent him over.

Tottenham fans loved the incident, rivals fans loved the tackle. It has raised a lot of debate over the sportsmanlike conduct of showboating, with Jamie Carragher making his feelings felt, tweeting: "It doesn’t matter what we all think of the #Richarlison showboating, it’s what the opposition think. They thought it was taking the p**s and tried to take him out. You can’t condone that but the worst that happens is a red card, for Spurs it’s a bad injury. That’s why it’s daft."

The former Liverpool defender offered his opinion on commentary about the incident, saying, "Woah! It does wind people up. You can't do that. But what is he doing? He just winds people up that lad, Richarlison. He winds me up. What do you expect Johnson to do?" Carragher was then tagged in a post of the clip by Richarlison and a video emerged of the two talking to each other, having a laugh after the game.

Dietmar Hamann took it a different way though, instead showing his annoyance at the act from Richarlison, replying to the video: "Nothing to do with showboating. Should have been booked for unsportsmanlike conduct and restarted with free kick to Forest."

Richarlison, not one to stay quiet, then bit back in typical social media style, replying: "Cry more," with two laughing emojis. He has now received backing from his international teammate Neymar who got involved, replying again to Richarlison with two more laughing face emojis.

Although it annoyed some fans and several pundits, Antonio Conte wasn't bothered and said: "It is a game and you are under pressure. I repeat it is OK. I don’t think Richy wanted to show disrespect to Nottingham Forest. Nottingham Forest are a really good team with a great history in football and we have a great respect. Richy for sure thinks in the same way. Not disrespectful for anyone and I can tell you this."
