Next Tottenham manager: Arne Slot keen on job as Spurs step up search

Arne Slot is open to becoming Tottenham's new manager.

Feyenoord have insisted there has been no approach from Spurs for the 44-year-old but Slot is understood to be keen on the move.

According to a report in the Netherlands, Slot, who turned down interest from Leeds in January, has already gone as far as to tell his agent that he wants to join the north London club.

The Dutchman has emerged as a leading candidate to permanently succeed Antonio Conte, having guided Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title this season with an exciting brand of possession-based, attacking football.

Feyenoord are keen for Slot to extend his contract, which has two years to run, and Dennis te Kloese, their general manager, has said he expects him to stay and insisted they are yet to receive an approach from Spurs.

Spurs have held talks with former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique, who is out of work after resigning as Spain boss, and admire Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim, Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi and Celtic coach Ange Postecoglou.

The club have reiterated their stance that Julian Nagelsmann will not be interviewed, who is free agent after being sacked by Bayern Munich, despite reports over the weekend claiming they had reignited their interest in the 35-year-old German.

It is not clear if Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman, plans to appoint a new head coach before a director of football, but his prioritises could change if Paratici's replacement is consulted on the identity of the new manager.

Te Kloese, who was previously the general manager of LA Galaxy, claimed he has already turned down a Spurs approach.
