Next St Johnstone manager odds as early frontrunner emerges

The betting odds for the next St Johnstone manager have been revealed.

Craig Levein was today sacked by the Perthshire club after a dismal run of form at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

Saints sit tenth in the Scottish Premiership after only five games, however, have picked up just three points, which came in a 3-0 away win at Kilmarnock.

New American owner Adam Webb has taken decisive action before more of the season is eaten into, as the 59-year-old became the first top-flight managerial casualty of the campaign.

Now, the attention turns to who will take over at McDiarmid Park.

And according to Gambling.com, John McGlynn is the early frontrunner for the job. The former Hearts manager has Falkirk riding high at the summit of the Championship following their invincible season on their way to League One glory last term.

Scotland Under-21 head coach Scot Gemmill is also high on the list, as is former Premier League and highly experienced Championship boss Alex Neil. Unsurprisingly, Ayr United manager Scott Brown also features.

Next St Johnstone manager odds in full:

John McGlynn- 5/4

Scot Gemmill - 2/1

Alex Neil - 3/1

David Martindale - 7/2

Callum Davidson - 6/1

Billy McKinlay - 8/1

John Kennedy - 10/1

Scott Brown 16/1

A short club statement reads: "The board of directors can announce that St Johnstone Football Club has today parted company with manager Craig Levein.

"The football club would like to place on record its thanks to Craig for all of his efforts during his time at McDiarmid Park."

Despite being knocked out of the League Cup by Rangers last month, there is no break for St Johnstone this weekend as they face a trip to the Highlands to play Ross County.

The teams arranged the fixture to be brought forward given both sides were out of the Premier Sports Cup and didn't want another free weekend.
