Next Leeds United manager odds shift after Andoni Iraola twist

Leeds United will be hoping for movement on their search for a new head coach this week, as the club looks to nail down an appointment and let their new boss get his feet under the table before the squad returns to pre-season training.

The Whites have been without a head coach since parting ways with Sam Allardyce earlier this month, following the former Bolton boss' failure to stave off relegation during his four-match stint in charge of Elland Road.

The ongoing takeover saga at Elland Road has not sped up matters, but with 49ers Enterprises finally agreeing a deal, which is now awaiting EFL ratification, on Friday June 9, the club can now begin to look forward, and not backwards.

The appointment of Nick Hammond on a short-term deal to act as a football advisor and help the club navigate what will be a busy transfer window was a sign of progress as the new regime looks for the next domino to fall in the shape of the head coach.

Several names continue to be linked and, as ever, the bookmakers continue to crunch the odds and react to rumours, speculation and where the money is going.

Former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke remains the favourite for the post, with Graham Potter and Carlos Corberan also believed to be in the running. But the big mover on Sunday is Andoni Iraola, who was first linked with the job at Leeds when Jesse Marsch was dismissed back in February.

Nothing became of these links then, with the Spaniard remaining with Rayo Vallecano as he looked to steer the La Liga side into Europe. He came up short in this quest, but turned down an offer to renew his deal there and was quickly linked to a host of new roles.

It appeared that Iraola was set for Almeria as reports suggested he had agreed to take the post, only for the Rojiblancos to announce on Saturday night that Vicente Moreno would be their new boss. The knock-on effect of this has seen Iraola's price for the Leeds job tumble to 8/1, despite a lack of credible reports linking him to Elland Road.

Here is a look at how the odds for the next Leeds stand on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of bet365.

  • Daniel Farke 11/10
  • Graham Potter 10/3
  • Carlos Corberan 7/1
  • Andoni Iraola 8/1

  • Scott Parker 18/1
