Next Leeds United manager odds after Brendan Rodgers and Andoni Iraola land new jobs

Andoni Iraola’s sudden ascent up the bookies’ odds to become the next Whites boss has turned out to be exactly as speculative as it first appeared after he was announced as Gary O’Neil’s replacement at Bournemouth, while the unfancied Brendan Rodgers has sealed a return to Celtic.

The new Cherries boss cropped up in bookmakers’ lists over the weekend after reportedly turning down the offer to become head coach at Almeria, apparently leading to some 2+2=5 thinking that Iraola may be bound for Leeds United. Former Leicester and Liverpool boss Rodgers had been tentatively connected with United, too, but his move back to the Scottish champions will kill that talk off altogether.

Of course, now that Iraola has been confirmed at the Vitality Stadium, O’Neil himself has shortened considerably in the odds, slotting in just behind former United midfielder Lee Bowyer at 16/1. Daniel Farke remains the overwhelming favourite, however, with the former Norwich City boss at 11/10 following his dismissal as Borussia Monchengladbach boss earlier this month.

Former Brighton and Hove Albion and Chelsea manager Graham Potter is next at 100/30, while West Bromwich Albion boss Carlos Corberan – formerly a under-23s manager and assistant to Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road – is available at 7/1. United are looking for a successor to Sam Allardyce as they prepare for life back in the Championship following relegation from the Premier League.
