Luis Enrique could become Chelsea's next manager following developments which involve the Spaniard travelling to London to talk to the club about replacing Graham Potter. The former Barcelona boss is now second-favourite to become the club's third permanent manager this season alone and is priced at 6/4 with SkyBet with Julian Nagelsmann still the favourite at 10/11.
The story, broken by football.london earlier , sees Enrique potentially become the third full-time head coach at Stamford Bridge since Todd Boehly-Clearlake consortium took over the club. The Blues originally had Thomas Tuchel - now at Bayern Munich - but was sacked shortly after their defeat to Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League group stage opener despite guiding the club to winning the competition back in 2021 and was heavily backed in the summer transfer window.
Tuchel, 49, was taken over by Graham Potter who joined the club after impressing them with his time at Brighton & Hove Albion who have been flying high since replacing Potter with former Shakhtar Donetsk head coach Roberto De Zerbi. Potter, 47, was given just seven months in the job before he was sacked as well after watching his side lose 2-0 to Aston Villa at the weekend and left the club in 11th-place and 11 points off the Champions League spots.
The job is not secured just yet with former RB Leizpig and Hoffenheim head coach Julian Nagelsmann still linked as the bookies favourite at 10/11 to takeover the vacancy at Stamford Bridge. The 35-year-old guided Bayern Munich to their 10th successive Bundesliga title in his maiden season at the Allianz Arena before getting the sack this year after losing to Bayer Leverkusen in the league - despite excellent form in the Champions League.
Elsewhere, club legend Frank Lampard has been linked with a potential return in the dugout in a caretaker role as the club look at the possibility of seeking a long-term replacement to start in the summer. Former Everton boss Lampard - who is 14/1 to replace Potter - was previously in the role between 2019 and 2021 where he guided the Blues to a Champions League spot while serving a transfer embargo bringing in youth players Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount.
