WATER OF LEITH (6.50, nap) is running at the peak of his form and will take some stopping at Carlisle despite a double penalty for two recent victories.
The four-year-old has won three of his last four starts. He landed a six-furlong handicap on this track for trainer Rebecca Menzies in early July before switching to Jim Goldie's yard.
Since then he was a close second at Ayr, again over six furlongs, followed by two wins at the Scottish course last week – one over six furlongs and one over five – both in the hands of Paul Mulrennan.
His latest victory last Saturday saw him beat Majeski Man by two lengths and with plenty in hand, so the 10lb penalties for winning those two races may not prevent him completing a quick hat-trick on Tuesday in the Racing TV Handicap over the minimum trip. Mulrennan again takes the mount.
At Nottingham, KORKER (3.50, nb) looks the standout in the It Pays To Buy Irish EBF Conditions Stakes after finishing third to Royal Aclaim in a five-furlong Listed race at York last month.
The Karl Burke-trained sprinter finished just two and half lengths behind James Tate's star, who is now favourite for the Nunthorpe Stakes on the Knavesmire next week.
Prior to that, Korker lost his chance at Royal Ascot by starting slowly but that was off the back of a comfortable victory at York.
