RADETSKY MARCH (1.45, Nap) can serve up a winner in the Fitzdares Handicap Chase at Musselburgh this afternoon.
The eight-year-old never managed to get off the mark as a hurdler, but the transition to fences completely transformed Laura Morgan’s charge, winning on his chasing debut at Fakenham last February, before winning again eight days later at Leicester.
He scored his third chase victory in five starts on his return to action at Market Rasen in November over an extended 2m 5f. He is progressing well and while despite a 5lb rise in the weights and a first try over three miles, Adam Wedge’s mount will be in the mix.
It took RUSSIAN VIRTUE (2.15, nb) 26 races before he passed the winning post in front, despite some decent runs on the Flat in his early career, but he can repeat the feat in the Fitzdares Handicap Hurdle over an extended 1m 7f.
The victory at Newcastle last month was achieved in some style, comfortably seeing off nine rivals by four and three-quarter lengths in his first outing over hurdles for Rebecca Menzies.
The six-year-old has 8lb extra to carry this time, but that should not stop him following up.
