Newsance 286: Why Godi media hates BeerBiceps and YouTubers

This week, the internet’s favourite influencer – BeerBiceps aka Ranveer Allahbadia – became the punching bag for TV news anchors. His crime? Appearing on comedian Samay Raina’s show India Got Latent and cracking a (borrowed) joke. As if on cue, every anchor jumped in to defend Indian culture from this so-called “crass, perverted, vulgar” mindset.

In a spectacular display of zero self-awareness, these same anchors who thrive on shouting matches and fake outrage held debate after debate on the social responsibility of influencers. They ranted about the depths people will sink to for views, blissfully ignoring their own bottomless pit of TRP-chasing antics.

Suddenly, these guardians of morality were deeply concerned about children and the “sanctity” of online spaces. The solution? More censorship, bans, and even criminal action against BeerBiceps. Because nothing says responsible journalism like demanding jail time over a bad joke.

This week on TV Newsance, we hold up a mirror to TV news anchors and expose the real reason behind this outrage – a desperate fight for pawpaw’s attention. Because at the end of the day, it’s not about morality. It’s about influence, insecurity, and a media ecosystem that can’t stand losing relevance to YouTubers.

We have a new NL Sena project and we need your help. We are sending reporters to Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand to report on how some regions are becoming laboratories for Hindutva. Your support will help send us on our way. Click here to contribute.
